on being light.

You are the light of the world.

You are, you know.
Jesus said so.

Some days you may wonder
if you can make a difference.
You don't talk like her
You're not as bold as he is.
You look different,
you sound different.
And, perhaps, you even
feel different
than they must.

You must be eloquent
and charismatic
and charming
and beautiful, right?
Augh.
Sounds like high school.
Never mind.

But, wait.
Where in the BIble
does it ever say that those are the attributes
that God's looking for?
Nowhere.
It's not in there.

Do you love Jesus?
You fit the bill.
Have a broken and humble heart?
 You qualify.
Seeking Him with all you've got?
You're in.
Trying each day to trust Him more?
You're just the person He's looking for.

You are the light of the world.
A city set on a hill.
Or an office.
Or a conference room.
Or a grocery store.
Or a dinner table.
Or a playgroup.

Now.
Not later.
You are the
light of the world
now.

Seek Jesus
and keep your eyes open
for how He wants to shine
through
beautiful,
unique,
courageous
you
today.

You are the light of the world-
like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket.
Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand,
where it gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see,
so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
~Matthew 5:14-16

Many blessings,
Deni
