an umbrella.

I got caught in a rain storm last night.
I knew it was coming,
I had been told all day it was.
I was out and about and found that,
in the middle of the rain falling sideways,
I had to move from here to there.
Yikes.
But,
I was ready.

My hubby had given me an early Valentine's Day present,
and it was just the thing for a storm like this.
An umbrella.
But not just any umbrella.
One decked out in my favorite colorful print.
It's beautiful.

As I was moving quickly from here to there,
I found myself slowing down and looking up
at the pretty print on the umbrella.
You can see the happy colors from underneath
while carrying the umbrella
and, it's funny,
but the joy hanging over me
made the storm less of a big deal.
I found myself enjoying being in the rain.
Yes, my jeans got soaked
and my sneakers won't be dry until Spring,
but that mattered less than it normally would last night.

I know there are storms in your life right now.
Who doesn't have a rain cloud or two?
You and I need to remember that,
even when things are cold and gray
and so very uncertain,
God covers us.
Delights in us.
And we, even in the middle of the worst,
can find a moment of joy in Him.

What will make you smile in the storm today?

God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
~Psalm 46:1

He will cover you with his feathers.

He will shelter you with his wings.

His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

~Psalm  91:4

Many blessings,
Deni
