This ride.
Ahem.
Up until the day before my 40th birthday,
this was a ride I grinned and beared.
With clenched, white-knuckled fists.
You see, they strap you into an elevator-like contraption.
And they lift the elevator car up...
and they drop the elevator car back down.
Again and again
and again.
Don't get me wrong, I love thrill rides.
I do.
But I had a love/hate thing going on with this one.
Until one day last year.
That day, instead of gripping the handle bars with all I have,
I let go.
I don't know why,
but I did.
And I loved it.
It turns out the ride's better when you
stop holding on like you're gonna die at any second.
When you stop fearing the next drop.
When you stop cringing as you anticipate the next lurch.
When you let go,
you work with the forces,
the physics,
that are out to move you.
Not against them.
And it's always better moving with
than bracing against.
And so, when I ride this attraction now,
I raise my hands
and laugh
and scream with delight.
Because I know it's more fun
when I just
let go.
let go.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
and he will show you which path to take.
~Proverbs 3:5-6
Many blessings for your Friday,
Deni
